Its a hard line to toe for anyone! Even an atheist like myself. I have never had a family member successfully unalived, but that being said last year november 9th my moms life was forever changed when my cousin( & my mom married my aunts ex husband which makes him a step sibling as well((im fully aware of how backwoods this sounds believe me 😂)) who has schizophrenia had suffered a break of sorts and hit my mom, proceeded to attack a family friend with a knife, and then turn on my mom when she stood up with all 4ft 10 in and threatened him back and called the police, which then prompted him to stab her right in the arm. Within the hour my mom was transported to the trauma 1 center to repair the severed main artery that was causing her to bleed out (3 units had to be given to her and at 4ft 10in and 100lbs soaking wet that is ALOT of blood essentially she was knocking on heavens door). My mom suffered a skull fracture in two places, some tissue inside of the ear damaged from the force, some superficial cuts, and the main artery severing blow. Where my family has trouble is we want to see him rot in prison because he came very close to murdering her that day. My mother is a progressive Christian and much stronger than I ,even with complex PTSD she just wants to see him live out his life in a medical facility since they can make him take his medication and he will be taken care of. Even though its not a death penalty case we still have the issue with what is just in the matter.
I wanted to add one other little table and hear about things that I do it hear it again I encourage people to follow my example and do exactly what I'm doing good I am going all over YouTube and leaving little gospel messages. Sometimes they are short sometimes they are much longer but I always mention receiving Jesus Christ as your savior. Now imagine if a lot of Christian Scott on YouTube and did exactly what I'm doing it wouldn't be very long before nobody could get on YouTube at least in the comments section and not see a gospel so I encourage all Christians reading this to follow my example and do exactly what I'm doing and leave gospel messages all over YouTube it plays out so read my other comments under this website and God bless God is great
I wanted to state that I believe I am pro-life but to me to be consistently pro-life you have to be anti-abortion, oh, but I also anti-capital punishment, anti-war, anti-racism and anything that cheap in human life Perry at the same time you should also champion stop and cruelty to animals okay, dad is being truly pro-life

I can sort of understand why a family of someone who’s been murdered might not prefer to see the murderer turn around and repent. Just from an emotional standpoint it would be hard to see a person thriving and maybe even being praised when they did something so horrible. My thought would have been (as best as I can guess because it’s impossible to put myself in that sort of situation) “Well why couldn’t you have done this before you killed my family member? You repenting now doesn’t bring them back. How come you get a sense of closure when I have to live with this for the rest of my life?” I still have compassion for that man but I also have a level of separation from the situation, which makes thing very different.

I’m only wary of capital punishment because of the innocent people in there. I don’t care what happens to people who truly commit disgusting crimes like murder, and people say I’m bitter or hateful. I don’t get how we are supposed to have sympathy or forgiveness or whatever for people who takes away someone’s life or innocence. I guess I’m more of the “an eye for an eye” type of person and maybe there would be less of those types of crimes going on if they knew the type of punishment they would get since they don’t care at all about potential victims. Though, a painless way would be preferred instead of something like an electronic chair

Virginia just abolished the death penalty! To those advocating for the death penalty, would you continue to do so even if you knew the death penalty has killed innocent people?
I truly wish that if any country has to have a death penalty they should have the prisoners consent to their own deaths. It's just murder.
Thank you for this Brenda, I know it must have been a hard one to do. Another viewpoint on Lisa Montgomery that I have picked up from my adoption/parenting groups, is she most likely had FASD. Which as a mother of a child with FASD, this breaks my heart. 60% of people with FASD end up in jail at some point in their lives. One of the biggest effects of FASD is not understanding cause and affect. Cognitive, and low IQ are also there. No matter what I do as a mom, I still have a real fear of my son committing a crime that he does not understand what he did. Our laws need to change, and not allowed for these people (or any!) to be executed.
I appreciate the idea that if a prison inmate is remorseful about their crime, that they should be given the steps to become redeemed from those horrific acts. However, there will always be people who don't feel sorry for evil acts and so they will never repent, and so all of the help that could be provided will have gone to waste. I want to forgive as much as possible, but I believe that there's only so much that we can do. The repentance has to come from the criminal themself. I believe that the death penalty should be used as little as possible, but not removed from the equation altogether.

As a historical supporting/non-progressive Christian, I appreciate that you have brought to life this information about the death penalty and suffering. I do believe that Christianity can be too politicized and many people can fall into that trap. I do not serve a political party, I serve the Lord God and obey His statutes.

Forgiving someone does not mean the person forgiven dies not have to deal with the consequences of there actions.
On the topic of pro-life Christians you have not given any reason that's show the Biblical view on the topic.

I’m a conservative Christian and very often disagree with you, but I highly appreciate and thank you for pointing to Scripture in this matter, and based on Scripture, would not want anyone who may severally harm me or someone I know to have the death sentence, but forgive them as Christ forgave me, and share with them the gospel of salvation from sin & death, no matter how hard. This is our call.
Have you ever heard of a goel dam? Even if someone kills your family member by accident you can kill them. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to. If someone commits murder, the punishment is death

yikes… i used to watch this channel until i was red-pilled earlier this year. i really respect and admire Allie Beth Stuckey and am reading her book right now, and it’s difficult but having a huge impact on my life. maybe Brenda is right and woke Christianity is misunderstood by some, but i cannot stress how much people like Allie Beth Stuckey and others who believe in Biblical Christianity are misunderstood. i beg of you any Christians reading, genuinely watch and listen to her and people like her, do your research, and have an open mind. you may be surprised.
There is no question about pro life if your for abortion you aren't pro life that is the murder of Innocence and is capital punishment on unborn children who done nothing wrong ! I did a research project on the death penalty. I’m completely against it after knowing how often it goes wrong, and how many innocent people are killed because they were framed. Which has happened before.
On the other hand I think things like abortion and birth control are a very very good thing.
People tell me that my views are contradicting each other but I don’t think it’s that simple. I’m not really good at putting it into words but there’s my opinion on this all.
I am a conservative Christian. And in no way is abortion ok in the Bible. Jesus made everyone in HIS image. He states that I knew you before you were formed in the mother’s womb. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Please don’t tell me what I can and can’t believe. I believe the whole Bible is true and not just parts. I respect you but you are false teaching.

Hi Brenda- idk if you’ll ever see this, but (speaking of conservative vs. progressive Christianity) something that a lot of conservative Christians have been getting into is “Newsmax” as an alternative to Fox News (you know, because they acknowledged that Trump lost the election 🙄). My parents love it…. and my husband and I can’t stand it, but we watch every so often to just see what sort of propaganda is being peddled. There’s a guy on there with his own show named Greg Kelly. Greg was previously affiliated with Fox News. My husband and I tuned in to him twice, for a total of about 15 minutes. The first time, he mocked Jill Biden’s doctorate degree – implying that (because the Biden institute is located at the University of Delaware) she had some sort of “hand out” and had it easy. He also implied that Joe Biden wasn’t being “Christian enough” in regards to Biden’s keeping Lindsey Graham at a distance. The second time we watched, I was seething within TWO minutes, because he was mocking Dr. Mary Trump (who wrote a “tell-all” about Donald Trump – she’s his niece) because she “wasn’t alive when the events happened” (as if witnesses and research don’t exist) AND he mocked her for using her LinkedIn photo for the cover, AND PROCEEDED TO SHOW UNFLATTERING PHOTOS OF HER IN SWEATS GETTING GROCERIES as an example of what she “really” looks like – and the tone was “yeah, she doesn’t really look like her cover photo, so she lied about her appearance and we shouldn’t take her seriously” …. ???!!!! So obnoxious. Anyway, Greg Kelly – maybe someone to look into, as he claims to be a Christian.
I'm pro-life, and for me that's not just about being against abortion. It's about respecting the dignity and beauty of each life that God has put on this Earth. A core part of Christian faith is redemption and the fact that we all fuck up isn't news to us. So I cant fathom why people avidly support the death penalty while being against abortion. I am against BOTH. This respect for life also extends outside of just life or death situations, and extends to the right of each person's freedom and happiness. It's the same reason I support gay marriage.
Saying families of victims should be able to call off a murderer's execution is highly dangerous. A muderer or his friends could pressure the family to have the execution called off through violence or bribes
8:08 this is not us seeking vengeance on our own, this is the justice system administering a punishment for a crime. You can't compare the justice system to vengeance. Those verses you're quoting are about going out and punishing people on your own. God is saying in these verses that punishments need to be administered by the justice system, not the citizens. That's it.
